Richard Hatch, the first winner of the reality show, 'Survivor,' has been jailed for more than four years for not paying income tax on his $1m (£556,000) winnings and other monies earned.
He claimed he ‘forgot’ to tell his accountants about some of the income he earned.
A judge sentenced Hatch to 51 months in jail after he was convicted in January saying he had issued the harsh sentence because Hatch had committed perjury repeatedly throughout his trial, contactmusic.com reported.
Before he was sentenced Hatch read a statement claiming everything he said while on trial was true, and that he thought the show's producers would pay his taxes.
