Leeds score deliberate own goal

David Jetuah , Accountancy Age, 10 May 2007

Leeds United went into administration again this week, picking up a 10-point penalty for the move occurring this season rather than next

The club was already likely to be relegated when it was put in the hands of KPMG, and then subsequently bought by Ken Bates, pictured. The controversial end-of-season administrations are becoming common, with clubs said to be happy to take a penalty where it does not matter, rather than carry it over to another season.
