Twickenham Film Studios goes into administration

TWICKENHAM FILM Studios has gone into administration after nearly 100 years at the heart of the British film industry. Begbies Traynor has been appointed administrators.

Twickenham Studios, which has helped bring films to the screen ranging from Sherlock Holmes' The Missing Rembrandt in the 1930s to My Week with Marilyn last year, is due to be wound down in June.

Begbies Traynor. which has been appointed administrator of the film studio, said it is hopeful that creditors will be paid in full.

"Twickenham Studios has debts at the moment that it can't pay, but when we sell the property, everyone will get paid in full," said Gerald Krasner, one of the joint administrators of the film studio

According to reports Krasner also said: "I doubt it will be retained as a film studio".

Half of the 17 employees have also left the business, with the remaining employees to work their notice.

Films that have either been filmed or worked on in post-production at Twickenham include; Roman Polanski's Repulsion; Alfie - with Michael Cane; Oscar nominated best picture War Horse; and Oscar nominated - and The Iron Lady.
