JONATHAN RILEY is to take over from Francesca Lagerberg as Grant Thornton's UK head of tax.
Riley has served as a GT partner since 1997, and is currently practice leader for Yorkshire. Lagerberg is moving into the global tax head role within Grant Thornton International.
Starting his career as a tax inspector, he was then seconded to the DTI as tax policy advisor to the president of the board of trade. His 20-year career has seen him serve high-net worth individuals and corporates across sectors.
Paul Etherington, quality & professional standards ‘lead' on the firm's national leadership board, said: "Jonathan has a strong track record in delivering high-quality services and has led the expansion of our Yorkshire business which has grown by almost 60% over the last few years.
"I am confident he will continue to develop the practice that has evolved so well under Fransesca's care. Grant Thornton's tax team is a key strength for the firm and provides a valuable contribution to the tax industry as a whole."
