GRANT THORNTON has been succeeded as auditor to specialist IT recruitment group InterQuest.

Deloitte has been brought in as auditors because InterQuest's chairman Gary Ashworth has married a partner at the UK's fifth largest firm, Grant Thornton.

A company statement said: "The board decided that it was necessary to change auditors in order to comply with the APB Ethical Standard on Auditing following the marriage of the executive chairman of InterQuest, Gary Ashworth, to a partner in Grant Thornton's tax practice.

"The board would like to thank Grant Thornton for its years of service."

Correction: We originally wrote that InterQuest executive chairman Gary Ashworth had taken a partner role at Grant Thornton, which was incorrect. We have amended the article to state that he has married a partner in Grant Thornton's tax practice.
