THE NEXT ICAEW vice president will be PwC's Andrew Ratcliffe.
Ratcliffe, who has been elected by ICAEW Council, will take office on 5 June 2013 and will be nominated as ICAEW president in June 2015.
The PwC audit partner became an ICAEW chartered accountant in 1980, and served on PwC's UK board and global board between 2001 and 2005.
During his time auditing large companies, he also worked on MBOs, IPOs, investigations, expert witness support, regulation and policy.
Ratcliffe said: "The current economic climate is very challenging and the accountancy profession needs to be at the forefront of efforts to restore growth. We also need to demonstrate the value of the regulatory role we play - one of hallmarks of any profession - in the post-financial crisis landscape.
"ICAEW has a critical role to play through its work with governments and regulators as well as the support it provides to its members. It is an enormous honour and privilege to be given the opportunity by ICAEW's Council to play a part in representing and serving ICAEW and my profession through the next three years."
