Nevertheless in London candidates expect employers to deliver 9% rise once again, with those in the Thames Valley expecting an 8% uplift.
RHI managing director Steve Carter said: 'Finally we are starting to see the accountancy profession being viewed as an integral part of business survival rather than simply historical number crunching.
'Sales and marketing have always been viewed as the more glamorous professions to go into and I think this demonstrates how important good financial control is and that this is a career where you can really help to shape the future of business.'
