RSS feedsAccording to reports in the Washington Post, prosecutors have set a deadline of Thursday (this week) for the embattled firm to plead guilty to charges of obstruction or face criminal charges.
The Post said US prosecutors intend to charge Andersen with obstruction of justice for failing to prevent document shredding after the firm learned that Enron's accounting procedures were under investigation.
Andersen had previously taken the unusual step of approaching the justice department to try and reach a deal instead of waiting for prosecutors to press charges.
