The first of the mid-level WorldCom executives who co-operated with prosecutors probing wrongdoing at the company has been sentenced.
Former WorldCom director of management, Betty Vinson, was sentenced to five months in prison for participating in the $11bn fraud that caused the collapse of the telecoms giant.
The star witness at the trial of former WorldCom boss Bernie Ebbers, chief financial officer Scott Sullivan, will also be sentenced on Thursday.
Vinson, who helped prepare financial document at WorldCom, pleaded guilty of securities fraud and conspiracy. In addition to her five-month jail sentence, she will serve an additional five months in home detention.
