RSS feedsKPMG has been appointed by HM Revenue & Customs to conduct a study into the administrative costs to small businesses of the UK tax system.
The firm said today that it had been chosen to conduct the £6m project ahead of two other bidders, the work being part of HMRC's ongoing aim to reduce administrative costs for small businesses in relation to tax.
The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2006.
Sir Digby Jones, chairman of the CBI, said: 'This is an important project and has the potential to inform future government policy on taxation. The CBI urges companies to take part in the interview process as the results need to be credible if the aim of reducing the cost of business compliance is to be achieved.'
