The Edinburgh tram and airport rail link projects are to be scrutinised by Audit Scotland, following a request by government ministers.
They have asked the public sector auditor to look at the cost projections for the projects before making a final decision on whether to proceed or cancel by the end of this month.
Finance secretary, John Swinney invited Robert Black to conduct a brief overview, looking at ‘the process used to assess costs and risks to delivery’ as well as the approach, the methodology and the scope of the assessment used to identify costs’, The Scotsman reported.
The Edinburgh Airport Rail Link is a £650m project. The Audit Scotland report will be completed by 20 June.
