LexisNexis has been forced to squeeze more words onto the pages of its famous tax handbook to stop the latest edition breaking the whopping 10,000 page barrier.
The latest Tolley's Yellow Tax handbook has a page count of 9,866 pages, up 60 pages from last year, and an increase of 4,000 pages on the 2001 edition.
The increase in pages reflects the growing complexity of the tax system, said Taxation editor Mike Truman.
'Even when the Government attempts to shorten legislation, for example with the recent anti-avoidance measures, this comes at the expense of pages and pages of HMRC guidance,' said Truman.
