A hostile predator can spend months analysing your financial and competitive position, then launch a takeover bid for your company when you least expect it and you're at your most vulnerable - possibly leaving you just 14 days in which to lodge a cogent defence of your track record. But you can prepare now - and that advice might make sense even if you aren't the group FD of a quoted company.
