Thesaurus cleans up carbon footprints with DaaS

IBM Premier Partner unveils datacentre-as-a-service (DaaS) offering

Kayleigh Bateman, CRN 12 Aug 2009

Reseller Thesaurus has launched a datacentre-as-a-service (DaaS) offering, to assist businesses in meeting their green targets.

DaaS removes the need to install resilient servers and cooling technology, thus reducing carbon footprints.

Thesaurus hosts its customer systems in its Milton Keynes datacentre. The VAR uses IBM infrastructure such as the System Z mainframe.

Thesaurus said it does not ask for high upfront capital investment, but allows customers to pay for what is required.

Mike Vinten, chief executive of Thesaurus, said: “DaaS removes the strain a datacentre places on a business. It is an ideal solution for those organisations that want to cut down on the expense of hardware, power and cooling, as well as reduce the amount of time staff take in monitoring and upgrading systems. All they have to do is pay a subscription cost and that is it, we take care of the rest.

“Organisations understand SaaS and so the completeness of DaaS will prove to be a much easier decision to incorporate it their IT strategy. All of the concerns that come with a datacentre are taken care of by us as part of DaaS. We ensure that businesses receive a resilient and secure datacentre service which satisfies issues, such as fire protection, and ensures sound business continuity.”

Professionals at Thesaurus also take care of system monitoring, the software and infrastructure support and updates reducing the need for round-the-clock staff resources.
