The first CFO Agenda, hosted by Financial Director at the Royal Society of Arts, was a roaring success

A top-flight panel of some of Britain’s finest financial and business minds helped make 2015’s inaugural CFO Agenda a runaway success.

Delegates flocked to London’s historic Royal Society of Arts on 19 June to hear retail turnaround specialist Justin King give his keynote speech at Financial Director’s flagship one-day event, perfectly timed to cover the political and economic changes that were set to follow in the wake of the 2015 general election.

In his speech, the former Sainsbury’s chief tackled the vagaries of leadership, including his list of ‘ten Cs’ for great leadership. He also covered his personal journey and the core lessons it’s delivered, as well as ethical business.

The programme, aimed at finance directors, chief financial officers and their finance teams, also included a panel of eminent economists who outlined their financial forecasts and examined how nuanced political shifts could alter the economic landscape on both a national and international scale.

Simon Laffin, chairman of Flybe, the low-cost airline, and former Safeway CFO, discussed how finance directors can take a more proactive approach to managing governance and how to analyse what good corporate governance looks like.
Attendees to the event included finance professionals from HSBC, P&O, Reed Elsevier, Guardian Media Group and Marathon Asset Management. ?
