HOME REPAIR service HomeServe has promoted its group chief financial officer, Martin Bennett, to the new position of group chief operating officer.

Bennett will take on responsibility for best practice and risk management following a mis-selling scandal.

His initial priority will be supporting the UK chief executive Jonathan King and the UK business on claims and network management, underwriting, systems and efficiency.

The company suspended its telesales operation in the UK in October last year as it reviewed the techniques staff were using to get people to sign up for emergency insurance cover.

David Bower, HomeServe's group FD will become interim CFO while it recruits a replacement CFO.
