TAX, finance and accounting professionals have been rewarded for their efforts in the Queen's New Year's Honours List
Professor Judith Freedman, professor of tax law at Oxford University, was awarded a CBE for services to tax research.
Teresa Sienkiewicz, a KPMG director, was awarded an OBE for services to the accountancy and pensions professions.
Eileen Hallissey, head of finance at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, was awarded an OBE for services to government finance.
Government Olympic Executive finance and programme director David Goldstone was awarded a CBE for services to the financial administration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
HMRC staff also picked up New Year's gongs. Dr Marian Wilson was awarded a CBE for services to increasing tax revenue through ‘innovative national schemes'. Tracey Pickin was awarded a CBE for services to tax compliance. Senior avoidance investigator Kevin Waller was awarded an OBE for services to tax compliance and the tax profession.
HMRC's SME officer, Mahendra Gajjar, was awarded an MBE for services to tax and duty fraud prevention. Jennifer Swanson, support team manager in HMRC's large business service unit, was awarded an MBE for services to tax and voluntary service to children.
