THE INCOMING chairman of The Hundred Group has been named as the country's most-influential FD, according to Accountancy Age.
Robin Freestone, chief financial officer of Pearson, has replaced Vodafone CFO Andy Halford as chairman of the Hundred Group, a discreet but highly influential lobbying group of the country's top finance directors, earning him a spot in the top ten of Accountancy Age's 2013 financial power list.
Highlighting the 50 most influential people in the accounting, the list also recognised the work of outgoing Morrisons CFO Richard Pennycook and headhunter Mark Freebairn from Odgers Berndtson.
In at number 23, Long-standing Morrisons group finance director Pennycook will be in demand when he leaves the company at the end of June to pursue a portfolio career, having announced his departure last summer.
It will be interesting to see which companies come in for Pennycook's services given his stellar track record as a turnaround specialist. He established his credentials as a fire-fighting FD par excellence as he delivered the seemingly impossible by restoring the City's faith in Morrisons after its botched Safeway acquisition.
HM Revenue & Customs chief executive Lin Homer topped the list.
