Aer Lingus CFO leaves for Middle East role

Andrew Macfarlane is stepping down from Irish arline Aer Lingus later this year

AER LINGUS chief financial officer Andrew Macfarlane is to step down later this year, the Irish airline group has said.

Macfarlane, who was appointed as interim CFO in 2009 and as the group’s CFO in 2010, is leaving to take up a new role in the Middle East outside of the aviation industry.

The board has started searching for a successor to Macfarlane, who will remain in his role for up to six months.

Christoph Mueller, Aer Lingus’ chief executive, said: “Andrew has been an excellent CFO at Aer Lingus. He has been a key member of the management team that, over the last five years, has transformed Aer Lingus into a strong, profitable airline with a resilient business model and an improved cost base.

Macfarlane added: “Aer Lingus is a substantially stronger business today with a proven, experienced management team, a strong balance sheet and attractive prospects.”
