Ex-Virgin Atlantic CFO joins Rentokil board

Julie Southern, former CFO of Sir Richard Branson's airline, joins Rentokil

JULIE SOUTHERN, the former chief financial officer of Virgin Atlantic, has joined Rentokil Initial as a non-executive director, the FTSE 250 pest controller has said.

Southern, who served as CFO of Sir Richard Branson’s airline between 2000 and 2010, will become chair of Rentokil’s of the audit committee on her appointment to the board.

Most recently, Southern was chief commercial officer of Virgin Atlantic between 2010 and 2013, responsible for the airline’s commercial strategy and that of Virgin Holidays. She also held a number of additional senior financial roles including group finance director at Porsche Cars Great Britain and finance and operations director at HJ Chapman & Co.

She is currently a non-executive director and member of the audit committee for NXP Semi-Conductors and a chartered accountant, having begun her career at Price Waterhouse.

Commenting on the appointment, John McAdam, chairman of Rentokil Initial, said: “We are delighted to welcome Julie to the board. She is an experienced professional, having worked with some of the world’s best known brands, and will bring valuable international business insight to the board.”
