Date set for Sainsbury CFO

Sainsbury's has announced the date for new CFO Darren Shapland's arrival at the ailing retailer.

Shapland will join Sainsbury's from Carpetright, where he currently serves as group FD, on 1 August.

Sainsbury's group FD Roger Matthews leaves the company in June, and in the role will be performed by the retailer's director of supermarket finance Jonny Mason until Shapland joins.

Carpetright chairman Lord Harris thanked Shapland for 'all his efforts', and said the process to recruit a new FD was making 'good progress'.
