CFOs appointed to FRC advisory councils

Reporting watchdog makes raft of appointments to its accounting and assurance councils

SEVERAL new appointments have been made to the FRC’s accounting and audit and assurance councils, the bodies responsible for advising the reporting watchdog’s board.

The appointees, which include two chief financial officers, bring a wide range of experience and perspectives, including investor, corporate and advisor views.

The new Accounting Council members include Michael Gallagher, chief financial officer of the Toronto and Falcon Oil & Gas; Jeremy Townsend, chief financial officer and chief information officer at Rentokil Initial and Mark Smith, an independent financial reporting consultant.

New members to the Audit & Assurance Council include Jane Fuller, fellow of the CFA Society of the UK and chair of its financial reporting and analysis committee; Maggie McGhee, director general responsible for financial audit at the National Audit Office; Robert Hingley, former director general of the Takeover Panel and Conall O’Halloran, head of audit for KPMG in Ireland.

Stephen Haddrill, CEO of the FRC said: “Each of these councils have an integral role within the FRC in upholding high quality corporate governance and reporting to foster investment.”
