Mobile systems integrator Cognito today launched a hosted offering designed to boost the productivity of mobile workers by offering on-demand mobile applications, pain-free integration with back-end legacy systems and business intelligence tools.
The Cognito Service Delivery Platform features four elements.
Enterprise Solution Services is a suite of software-as-a-service (SaaS) apps in areas such as real-time data, authentication, messaging, scheduling, tracking and asset management.
Customer Interface Services features software adaptors that enable the platform to extract information from legacy systems and integrate them with mobile apps according to a customer's business rules, said Cognito.
Mobile Communication Services take the pain out of mobile integration, again requiring no hardware on the customer's site.
Finally, Mobile Services Management is a suite of tools designed to deliver business intelligence-like capabilities such as reporting, diagnostics and dashboard information.
With this information firms could improve the efficiency of their fleet management, by being able to see when vehicles on the road are under capacity, explained head of marketing David Perry.
"It's a natural evolution of our business strategy – we looked at the common components we were using when building solutions for our customers and separated them out and placed them in a hosted architecture," he added.
"It's basically a private cloud – a virtualised environment running on VMware and hosted by us in our two datacentres, which we can offer as a service; it's intuitive and easy to understand."
