Close, but no cigar for GrandMet FD

Gerald Corbett, FD of food and drink group Grand Metropolitan, has been causing problems down at the group’s suitably grand and metropolitan new headquarters building just off London’s Oxford Street. Corbett was a smoker. Then he gave up. Since he was the only smoker among the group’s senior executives the cigarette order for the directors’ dining rooms was cancelled. Plenty of fine cigars, but no cigarettes.

Like many supposed non-smokers, he has started cadging cigarettes – off unsuspecting guests or even the chef. Time to reinstate deliveries from Davidoffs, the suitably grand and metropolitan St James’s tobacconist.
