Shell declaration of ignorance follows BA trend
Ignorance seems to be becoming a fashion among top business people.
On the heels of British Aerospace FD Richard Lapthorne’s admission that he had no idea whether the group’s strategy would be implemented comes the astonishing confession from one of the world’s top oil executives that he knows nothing about oil prices. The man in question is Cor Herkstroter who is the primus inter pares among Shell’s managing directors. Asked recently at a rare briefing for journalists for his views on the prospects for oil prices, he declared emphatically: “That is one of the things I know nothing about.”
