No such thing as a free lunch? Don't credit it

The definitive credit event of the year, it says here, was Credit 97, which followed, logically enough, “the enormous success of Credit 96”. Credit where credit is due, as they say, this clearly was a prestigious event, with over 60 exhibitors led by those highly credible, and creditable, companies, Dun & Bradstreet, Trade Indemnity and Infocheck.

The exhibition was a sideshow to the three days of conference and workshops, covering topics ranging from “Tracing Gone Away Debtors” to “The Future of Credit Management”. There was only one slight flaw: the whole thing was free.

How can a company which gives things away know anything about collecting cash?
