    Appointment at Alfred McAlpine.

    Alfred McAlpine looks set to build for the future with the appointment of Jeffrey Hume as group finance director.

    Hume joins the construction company from the Howden Group, an engineering company. He has previously held senior positions at BTR Construction Services and the Hawker Siddeley Group. The FD spot has been open since April after the resignation of Gavin Morris who left to take the finance position at telecoms group Ionica.
