On the move - Ins and outs of top brass at Selfridges

BSkyB chief financial officer Martin Stewart has quit the role to pursue other interests, but will continue in his post until 4 August 2004, unless a successor is appointed before that date. Stewart joined the company in 1996 as financial controller. He became CFO in 1998. Recently appointed chief executive James Murdoch saluted Stewart's contribution to the company: "Martin has played an enormous role in the success of Sky and has been instrumental in the company's transition from analogue to digital."

Kelda group FD Martin Towers has joined Homestyle Group as a non-executive director.

Sacha Beere has resigned as finance director of furniture retailer ScS Upholstery. Beere will remain in the role until a successor is found.

Stephen Towne has been appointed finance and operations director at market research group EQ. Towne formerly served as director of audit services at MyTravel/Airtours, where he worked for eight years.

Independent financial advisor Cavanagh Group has appointed Robert Smith as finance director.

Nursing homes company Matrix Healthcare has appointed Richard Ellert as FD. The company is set to change its name to ADL and will begin trading on AIM.

Paul Grundy is set to become the new group finance director of diversified sales and distribution business NWF. Grundy, currently group financial controller at N Brown Group, steps into the role in September when current group finance director Alan Fulker retires after 15 years.

Communications, applications and services provider Avaya has appointed Debbie Bruce as its new UK and Ireland FD. Bruce steps into the role with immediate effect, replacing Kirk Locke-Scobie, who left the business in November 2003.

Amanda Thorneycroft has been promoted from finance director to managing director of Centurion Electronics, following the death of chairman and chief executive Steven Cunningham.

Home Entertainment Corporation has promoted Christopher White from director of finance and information services to finance director. Current finance director John Sealey retires from the role at the end of April 2004.

Francois Desmarest has been appointed chief financial officer of Jobpartners. Desmarest previously held the position of chief financial officer at Ubitrade, where he was responsible for finance, human resources, legal affairs and internal IT activities. Desmarest has also held the position of director finance at Marceau Investissements. Prior to that, he was manager-owner of MTS Diffusion.

Digital media lifestyle and entertainment content provider Stream Group has appointed Patrick Greene as FD. He spent 10 years at insurance broker Aon before moving to Keller Group as financial controller.

Matthew Clarke is the new FD of Trio Holdings. Incumbent FD John Thomson stays as an executive director and company secretary.

Eurodis Electron interim group finance director Peter Grant has been awarded the role on a permanent basis.

Cyberes finance director Mark Cant has been promoted to chief executive. Cant will continue as finance director of the online travel reservation service provider until a replacement is found.

Karen Atkinson has been appointed as the new group financial controller of Reg Vardy. Atkinson takes over from current group financial controller Al Loch.

Martin Napper is the new finance director of warranty insurance scheme provider Regency Group. Napper has held senior financial positions at Ambersil, Cavendish Industries Group and BBS.

Darren Jordan has stepped down as finance director of investment firm Inflexion.

IT applications provider Netstore has appointed chief financial officer Neil Lloyd as chief executive after his new role was separated from that of chairman Paul Barry-Walsh. Sugi Sugunasingha will take over the role of CFO.

Roy Benbow is the new finance director of LexisNexis UK. Benbow held the role of corporate finance officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Gartner, and had a similar role at Storage Technology.

Coach and rail operator National Express has appointed Ian Rogers as finance director of the Greater Anglia franchise. Rogers has served as FD for central trains with the National Express Group’s trains division for the past three years. Previously, he held senior financial roles at various Exel subsidiaries, including Pickfords.

Emblaze group CFO Tamar Rapaport-Dagim is set to retire but will continue serving the company as a non-executive director. She will step down as CFO when a replacement is appointed.

Andrew Alsop, Group FD of Airsprung Furniture will step down on 31 March 2004. The Group directors express their thanks for Andrew’s 28 years service and wish him well with his involvement in the Christian ministry.
