Arnold Schwarzenegger’s former deputy legislative secretary
for health, human services and veterans affairs Ana Matosantos
is the new finance chief for California. Appointed by governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger and pending Senate approval, Matosantos will replace
Mike Genest. At 34, she is the youngest-ever finance head for
the state of California and the first Latina to hold the post.

Thomas Cook has a new FD as Mondi Group CFO Paul
Hollingsworth
joins to replace acting CFO Jurgen

, who was signed off ill for several months but returns as group
strategy director. Hollingsworth, who has been group FD of money printer De La
Rue, started work in the new year.

Ray Young, currently CFO at stricken automotive giant GM
who was due to leave the job, will now stay on in that job until a successor is
found and, from February, will add to his remit the newly created role of vice
president, international operations.

Godfrey Gomwe, Anglo American’s head of business
development in Africa, who was previously FD and chief operating officer for the
South African business, has been made executive director for South Africa with
immediate effect. Gomwe has also served as CEO for the mining giant’s Zimbabwe
business.

Germany’s GM-owned business Opel starts the year without a CFO following the
departure of Marco Molinari on 1 December. No replacement has
yet been announced. Opel’s managing director paid tribute to Molinari’s work
securing the bridge loan the company relied on amid its troubles last

Enterprises has promoted its senior vice president of treasury and strategic
planning, Robert Campbell, to interim CFO while it looks for
someone to replace Linda Harvard, who leaves at year end.
Campbell, who assumed the position (ahem) on 1 January, is overseeing the
company’s financial, treasury, accounting and technology functions, reporting to
CEO Scott Flanders.

In his previous role, Campbell was responsible for looking after Playboy’s
banking relationships, overseeing its tax and insurance functions, strategic
planning and corporate development activities. The company has hired BridgeGate
to find a new CFO, looking at both internal and external candidates – for what
some may think could be the best CFO job in the world… aside from that of
Jimmy Jellinek, recently made Playboy’s chief content officer.
