FSA paid KPMG £230,000 for international staff tax advice

Big Four firm KPMG provided 43 FSA staff on international secondment with tax advice last year

KPMG was paid £230,000 in 2009 by the Financial Services Authority for tax
advice to international staff on secondment.

A freedom of information request revealed that 43 FSA staff, either on
international secondment from foreign regulators or working overseas, last year
received free tax advice totalling £230,000 from the Big Four firm.

The FSA claimed the advice was needed to ensure employees were paying the
correct amount of tax both in the UK and their home country,
Citywire
reported.

Over the last three years the FSA has spent a total of £383,000 on tax advice
for staff on loan from foreign regulators.
