FD pensions hack shortlisted in journalism awards

Financial Director’s pensions reporter Anthony Harrington has been recognised for his work in the magazine at this year’s State Street awards for pensions writing, with shortlistings in three categories.

Harrington was shortlisted for journalist of the year against some of the industry’s best titles and journalists for two pieces that ran in Financial Director in our December 2009 issue – one on complex draft rules governing employer debt and how he saw them as a ticking timebomb for unsuspecting business – and another in that same issue about the controvery over securities lending in the sector.

He was also shortlisted as 2010 investment journalist of the year for his work for finance blog Qfinance.com, and in a third category also for Qfinance.

Sadly he didn’t bring home any gongs this time but Financial Director is honoured to have a journalist as part of its team who commands recognition for his work every year – his 2010 State Street shortlisting is the latest in a long line. He won journalist of the year in 2006.

“Always the bridesmaid,” Harrington told Financial Director of the news. “I was looking forward to the case of wine they send the winner.”
