Former Microsoft man takes CFO role at Mamut

Software provider appoints Knut Stålen

(Accountancy Age) Knut Stålen has taken the chief financial officer (CFO) role at one of the UK’s largest accountancy software providers, Mamut.

Stålen was most recently finance director at Microsoft Norway, which he joined in September 2009. Previously, he was CFO of Norwegian technology company Trolltech for seven years before it was acquired by Nokia, where Stålen then worked as finance director until May 2009.

He takes up his new position at Mamut in January 2011, succeeding Martin Kværnstuen

Last year Mamut saw its customer base dramatically increase when it inherited 9,000 customers from a Microsoft contract. Microsoft announced at the end of 2009 it would cease distribution of its Office Accounting software and signed a deal with Mamut to supply its customers with support for five years.
