(Sharecast) Car parts and bikes seller Halfords has named Andrew Findlay as its new finance director.
Findlay will join the company on 1 February 2011, Halfords said in a company statement.
He is currently director of finance, tax and treasury at Marks and Spencer, “where he played a key role in programmes to deliver cost savings and improvements in working capital,” the group explained.
Prior to Marks and Spencer he held senior finance roles at the London Stock Exchange and at Cable and Wireless, both in the UK and US.
Chief executive David Wild said: “Andrew has an impressive track record and brings extensive financial experience in retail and other competitive, consumer-facing industries.”
The appointment comes as Halfords struggles with declining sales.
In October the group said like-for-like sales fell 5.8 percent during the second quarter following a 4.5 percent drop at the retail business and 1.5 percent decline at Autocentres.
