Bonhams FD to speak at the 2011 Financial Director Summit

Hugh Watchorn to appear at the June 16 event

Hugh Watchorn, finance director of Bonhams, the fine art auctioneers, has been confirmed to speak at the 2011 Financial Director Summit on 16 June.

Watchorn graduated from the London School of Economics in 1984, and began his training with Arthur Anderson in London. He became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1989, and has gone on to apply his keenly commercial mind to fast-growing, entrepreneurial businesses across a wide range of sectors. He is particularly experienced in leading corporate finance projects such as taking companies to market, mergers and acquisitions, refinancing and business turnarounds.

During his 10 years at Bonhams, Watchorn has been very closely involved with the Bonhams-Phillips merger, the acquisition of Butterfield and Butterfield on the West Coast of the US, several internal group reorganisations, and the expansion of operations in New York City and Asia. A key achievement has been the rollout of a financial control and reporting framework that has enabled the business to take well-informed business decisions.

In its seventh year, the summit will become a one-day event packing in the very freshest, value-added thought leadership, the best speakers and advisors, and plenty of top-level, behind-the-scenes insights on how the best mid-market FDs operate.

The event moves from its former home at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire to central London at the call of many of its most loyal delegates, while the one-day format means FDs will find it easier to take the time from a busy schedule to join the foremost meeting of their peers.

The 2011 event will lead with the most pressing issues for FDs in 2011 and beyond, encompassing the reality of finding sustainable growth versus the mantra, how to demonstrate finance’s critical leadership role in managing change and upheaval in the coming years. Finance directors in attendance will be enjoy invaluable networking opportunities with which to meet the best in the field and exchange learning and advice on what’s to come.

Save the date and keep an eye on Financial Director magazine, our website and email newsletters, LinkedIn group and Twitter page to be the first to hear as speakers and sessions are confirmed.
