Lloyds FD to take interim chief executive role

Tim Tookey is taking on the chief executive role despite Lloyds' announcement that he would leave in February 2012 to join Friends Life.

LLOYDS Banking Group’s CFO Tim Tookey is taking on the chief executive role after Antonio Horta-Osorio temporarily stepped down due to illness.

Horta-Osorio, who stepped down this morning, is expected to return by the end of the year.

Tookey will serve as interim group chief executive alongside his CFO duties. He joined the group as deputy finance director in 2006 before taking the top finance role in 2008.

The ICAEW fellow spent 11 years at KPMG before serving in FD roles at Heath Lambert Group and Prudential.

In September, Lloyds announced that Tookey would leave in February 2012 to join Friends Life.

Lloyds’ shares fell 1.56p, to 29p, in this morning’s trading.
