DFK International promotes deputy president to top job

DFK Demetriou Trapezaris co-founder Demetris Demetriou takes reins from former president Scott Hazy for three-year term

TOP TEN ASSOCIATION DFK International has appointed former deputy president Demetris Demetriou to the group’s top job.

Demetriou, partner and co-founder of Cyprus’ DFK Demetriou Trapezaris, replaced president Scott Hazy after a three-year term following the association’s annual conference in Canada. He previously served as deputy president through US-based Hazy’s leadership. It is the first time DFK International has appointed a member from Cyprus as president.

Following his appointment, Demetriou said his position as a partner in a small to medium-sized firm means he is representative of the majority of the global association’s members “and recognise the difference that they and the larger member firms make together”.

Hazy’s presidency focused on using technology to expand the association, something Demetriou said he will continue.

“As an association, we have made many technological advancements in recent years and I will be encouraging more to be done in areas such as cloud technology to improve our communication and service to clients,” he said.

Demetriou also confirmed a continued review of the association’s constitution “to ensure DFK International is best-placed to advance with changes in the business and accounting world”.
