Wetherspoon finance chief joins Greene King as CFO

Kirk Davis joins Greene King from FTSE 250 pub chain JD Wetherspoon

GREENE KING, the pub retailer and brewer, has recruited new chief financial officer Kirk Davis from FTSE 250 pub chain JD Wetherspoon.

Davis, who has been with Wetherspoon since 2008 and has served as finance director since 2011, is expected to join Greene King in the New Year. He previously worked in senior finance roles in Tesco and Marks & Spencer.

He replaces Matthew Fearn who has agreed to step down on health grounds having been absent from work since February with a long-term illness.

“We are very sorry to see Matthew step down, particularly in these very sad circumstances,” said Rooney Anand, Greene King chief executive officer. “At the same time, I am pleased to welcome Kirk to the company. He has extensive and relevant financial experience, both in consumer retail and more recently in the pub sector.

Wetherspoon said it has begun the process of identifying an appropriate successor.
