Oyster Yachts names FD as expansion phase sets sail

Simon Haynes called in to lead a new development for the recently re-housed Oyster Yachts

LUXURY YACHT BUILDER Oyster Yachts has recruited Simon Haynes as its new finance director.

Haynes has served in a number of finance roles across diverse sectors and corporate structures, including terms at banknote producer De La Rue and Talaris/Glory Global Solutions.

His appointment, and that of new head of marketing Jane Wilkinson, comes at an important time for the yacht business, which has gone through a period of restructuring, expansion of its production facilities and relocation to Southampton from Ipswich.

Haynes said the role was “exciting and very appealing”. “…I was delighted to be able to accept the opportunity to join a global brand within the exclusive, high quality yacht market,” said Haynes. “I look forward to exploring our strategic options and driving operational efficiencies as I take up the financial reins at Oyster Yachts.”

Oyster CEO David Tydeman said: “The relocation of the Oyster headquarters to our long-established shipyard in Southampton creates a simpler structure than our previous operating model of out-sourced sub-contracting. Recruiting Simon and Jane into the senior team is part of ensuring we have the right skills to deliver this new focus and to build up the close links we need between the Southampton yard and our sister shipyard in Norfolk; I am delighted they have joined us.”
