ONE OF THE UK’s most long-serving senior finance executives is to leave the role on 1 May.

David Keens, who has served as Next’s group FD for 24 years, steps down from the board on 1 April before leaving the company a month later.

Amanda James, who has served in finance roles with Next over the last 18 years, will succeed him from 1 April.

Keens was described as “an outstanding guardian” of Next’s finance’s in the company’s statement to the London Stock Exchange this morning. “Our financial position today is testament to his diligence and hard work.”

He won the Liftetime Achievement award at Financial Director’s Business Finance Awards last week. His reitrement from Next was announced ten months ago.

In her time at Next, James has led the management accounting and commercial finance team since 2005, and was appointed commercial finance director in 2009. In 2012 she was promoted to brand finance director.
