POUNDSTRETCHER has appointed veteran retail finance chief Bob Marshal as its finance director.

Marshall joins the discounter from Costcutter, where he served as finance director for three years. He has also worked at Matalan and Baird Group.

“Poundstretcher is a strong business which is well placed to further capitalise on consumer’s expectations for great products at low prices,” Marshall said. “I believe there is a real opportunity to significantly grow the value of the business over the coming years.

Managing director, Ian York, said: “With Bob’s experience working with national retailers he is extremely well qualified for the role and we are very pleased he’s joined the team.

Poundstretcher has 409 stores in the UK with 15 stores opened in the current financial year.
