VIDEO games retailer GAME Digital has appointed Mark Gifford, House of Fraser’s long-standing finance chief, as its new chief financial officer.
Gifford is leaving the House of Fraser after eight years as CFO and, as previously reported, is the latest member of its senior team to leave the department store group following its acquisition by a Chinese conglomerate.
He replaces Benedict Smith in October, who announced in March that he would step down as CFO of GAME to take up the position of CFO at a private equity-backed business.
A qualified accountant, Gifford has held senior finance roles at UK travel company First Choice, including as FD of First Choice Retail.
Martyn Gibbs, GAME’s CEO, said: “Mark brings a wealth of experience driving successful strategic, operational and financial delivery in retail and consumer facing businesses and will be a great asset to GAME.
“He is a high calibre individual who will build on what we have already achieved as we continue in our mission to build the most valuable community of gamers.”
