Ex-Standard Life FD joins Vodafone board

David Nish joins Vodafone as a non-exec

DAVID NISH, the former FD and CEO of Standard Life, has joined Vodafone as non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2016.

Nish was the CEO of Standard Life from 2010 to 2015. He joined the company as group finance director in November 2006. Under his tenure as CEO, Standard Life’s market capitalisation increased from £4.8bn to £9.3bn and the company returned £3.7bn to shareholders.

He was the group FD of Scottish Power from 1999 to 2005 and is a former partner at Price Waterhouse. He is also a non-executive director of the UK Green Investment Bank and was formerly a member of the Financial Services Advisory Board of the Scottish government.

Vodafone Group chairman Gerard Kleisterlee said: “David is a highly experienced business leader who helped build Standard Life into one of the UK’s largest asset managers, delivering significant returns to shareholders. His financial expertise and capital market skills will be a complementary addition to the board and I am delighted to welcome him to Vodafone.”
