Julia Wilson to become senior independent director at Legal & General
LEGAL & GENERAL has appointed 3i’s long-serving group FD Julia Wilson as its senior independent director.
She succeeds Rudy Markham, who will step down at the next AGM.
Wilson joined Legal & General in 2011 as a non-executive director. She became chair of the audit committee in May 2013.
She first joined 3i in 2006 as deputy finance director, and became group finance director and member of the executive committee in 2008. At that point she doubled the number of female FDs in the FTSE 100.
In 2010, she spoke to Financial Director about the financial overhaul, management upheaval and business model transformation she undertook at 3i.
John Stewart, chairman of Legal & General, said: “The board and I are delighted that Julia Wilson has been appointed as Rudy’s successor. Julia has been an excellent NED and Chair of our Audit Committee and will be a first class SID.
