Chemring Group names former Avon Rubber exec as next group FD

Andrew Lewis set to take on the Chemring finance role, having served at Avon Rubber

CHEMRING GROUP has appointed Andrew Lewis as its next group finance director, replacing interim FD Andrew Davies.

Lewis will take over on 9 January from deputy group FD Davies, who was appointed interim FD following the departure of former group finance chief Steve Bowers on 30 September.

Before his appointment at countermeasure and sensor business, Lewis was group FD of Avon Rubber, where he was instrumental in the company’s turnaround and subsequent growth from a £10m to £300m business.

He has a strong track record of consistent organic earnings growth and cash generation, backed up by technology driven M&A activity, Chemring said in a statement to the stock exchange. In 2015 he served as interim CEO, following the retirement of the previous boss. Lewis has also served as group financial controller at Rotork.

Chemring chairman Carl-Peter Forster said:Considerable work has been done in the past couple of years to strengthen the group’s balance sheet and improve its financial controls. Andrew’s experience and drive will benefit the group as we seek to progress our operational and financial performance.”
