About Andrew Bonfield

Andrew has been finance director of the National Grid plc since 2010, where he is also responsible for property and shared services.

He has held multiple high-profile CFO and FD roles throughout his career and was the youngest chief financial officer ever appointed at SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline), in 1999.

He has since then held positions as CFO for Cadbury, BG Group and US pharmaceuticals giant, Bristol-Myers Squibb.

He started his career at Price Waterhouse (now PwC) in South Africa, before joining SmithKline Beecham in 1989 and working his way through the ranks.

Andrew is chairman of the 100 group, which represents the views of the Finance Directors of FTSE 100 and several large UK private companies. Andrew is also a non-executive director at Kingfisher plc.

About the National Grid

The National Grid is an international electricity and gas company based in the UK and the northeastern US. The organisation owns the electricity transmission system in England and Wales and owns and operate four of the eight regional gas distribution networks in the UK.

It reported an operating profit of £4.7bn for the year 2016/2017.  The Chairman is Sir Peter Gershon CBE and John Pettigrew is CEO.
