Unilever's former VP of corporate strategy appointed FD of Squires Garden Centres

Squire's garden centres, which has 15 outlets nationwide, appoints new finance director who worked at Unilever for 25 years

Unilever’s former vice president of corporate strategy, Mark Wilson, has been appointed finance director of Squire’s Garden Centres.

Wilson, who worked for Unilever for 25 years in a variety of finance, buying and corporate strategy roles, will replace Steven Palmer at the family-owned horticultural business.

In his time at Unilever, Wilson held positions including finance director of Unilever Czech Republic and Slovakia and vice president of finance for DiverseyLever, before it was acquired by Johnson Wax Professional.

Oxford-educated Wilson was also group finance director for Vitacress for ten years, before re-joining Unilever for four years in 2013, until his move to Squires.

Squire’s Managing Director, Martin Breddy, said of the appointment: “I am delighted to announce that Mark Wilson has joined Squire’s Garden Centres.

“He joins Squire’s with extensive knowledge and experience, and I and the rest of the team look forward to working closely with him to continue developing and growing the successful family business.”
