What's next for the pension industry?

Helen Dowsey, director of business development and account management at NEST, speaks to Financial Director about the key developments that have affected the pension industry in recent years, plus what's in store for the sector in the next 12 months

Helen Dowsey, director of business development and account management at NEST, speaks to Financial Director about the key developments that have affected the pension industry in recent years, plus what’s in store for the sector in the next 12 months.

Perhaps the most significant change has been the introduction of auto-enrolment, which has seen all employees being enrolled into a pension arrangement. There are now 9 million members within some form of pension arrangement in the UK – 6 million of whom are with NEST, the master trust.

It’s now time for stability, says Dowsey, giving the pension industry time to take stock of where it currently stands and develop strategies for moving forward.
