Former Mazars director claiming race discrimination

FORMER MAZARS corporate finance director Paramjit Aurora is claiming unfair dismissal on the grounds of racial and religious discrimination.

Mr Aurora, a British national of Indian heritage and a Sikh, joined the firm’s London office in mid-2007, was promoted in 2008 and subsequently made redundant in 2009.

A spokesman for the firm said: “Mazars can confirm it is defending a claim being brought by a former employee. Mr Paramjit Aurora was dismissed by reason of redundancy from the Corporate Finance team during the global financial recession in 2009. The dismissal was fair and Mazars strongly denies that it was for any reason connected with race or religion as claimed by Mr Aurora.”

The case is ongoing at the East London Employment Tribunal, and the hearing is expected to conclude next week.
