Richard Laing is leaving the FD position at banknotes printer De La Rue. Laing, who has been with the company for 15 years, the last three as FD, is reportedly unhappy with the increased travel time he is enduring after the company moved headquarters from London to Basingstoke. Living in Surrey, his journey now takes him four hours each day. Older readers may remember Express columnist William Hickey embarking on an expedition to locate Basingstoke. Laing was paid £163,000 last year.
