On the move: Asquith in the money at Schroders

Schroders has appointed Jonathan Asquith as CFO, replacing Nicholas MacAndrew, who spent 30 years with the company. Asquith joins from Barclays where he was head of UK private banking. He has experience as FD at Morgan Grenfell Group.

Anglo-Australian metal and mining company Rio Tinto has named Guy Elliot as FD. Elliot joins the company on 1 January 2002 and succeeds Chris Bull in April.

Paul Murray is the new FD of media group Carlton, replacing long-serving FD Bernard Cragg. Murray was group FD of oil exploration and production company Lasmo until its acquisition by Italian company Eni in 2001.

Axa UK has appointed Paul Evans as group FD. He joined from PricewaterhouseCoopers in January 2000 as director of finance and planning.

Industrial materials company Scapa Group has appointed Colin White as FD, following Bill Tame’s resignation.

Dyes and chemicals company Yorkshire Group has appointed Martin Towers FD. He previously worked as FD of Allied Textile Companies.

Security company Chubb has named Jonathan Findler deputy chief exec, retaining his role as group CFO. He will now be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a number of group-wide operational programmes.

Seafood producer and distributor Albert Fisher has named current FD David Meller chief exec, following current chief exec Terry Robinson’s appointment as chairman.

John Hylands is the new group FD of Standard Life, having joined the company in 1979 as an actuarial student. Before that, he was a maths teacher.

Reed Health Group has appointed Desmond Doyle as group FD, replacing Malcolm Paget. Doyle was previously European CFO for APW, a NYSE-listed electronic manufacturing services provider.

Stratagem Group has appointed Stephen Murphy as FD and company secretary, replacing Sheridan Swallow. Murphy has broad experience in manufacturing.

British film distributor Winchester Entertainment has appointed Shawn Taylor as FD. He was previously a director of children’s entertainment group HIT Entertainment.

Communisis has appointed former Sage FD Aidan Hughes as a non-exec. Since leaving Sage in March 2000 he has worked as a consultant for the business services industry.

Nationwide Accident Repair Services has promoted CFO David Hogg to group FD. The qualified chartered accountant has served with the group for six years. Neil French stepped down as group FD in April 2001.

Cobra Beer has appointed Dynshaw Italia as its first FD, in preparation for the company’s flotation on the London Stock Exchange.

Foils and laminates company API has appointed David Walton group FD.

IT consultancy services provider Diagonal has made Steve Fleming FD.

Fleming joins the SAP software partner after a ten-year career with Deloitte & Touche. His last project for the company dealt with high growth businesses in transaction support.

Sportsworld Media Group has appointed Malcolm Gardner FD. He was previously FD of Chorion.

Ian Durant is FD of London hotelier Thistle Hotels, replacing Stephen Young. Durant left Dairy Farm International Holdings in October 2001, where he was group FD.

Papermaking firm Inveresk has appointed David Harrison FD. He joins from IT group Iomart.

Tea and coffee company Whittard of Chelsea has named Mark Naughton-Rumbo FD. He is a chartered accountant who was FD of the Designers Guild Group.
